Man Attacked During Home Invasion
Law enforcement officials initiated an investigation Saturday after a man sought medical attention for injuries he sustained in a home invasion.
Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were summoned to the emergency room at Crocket Hospital at 8:00 Saturday morning to investigate an assault.
The victim, age 18, said he had sustained his injuries when three men unlawfully entered a home where he was staying.
The victim reported that he had been asleep on the couch when he heard the sound of a car door shutting. He said he looked out and found that a black Dodge truck had been backed up to the back door.
The victim said as he walked toward the back door he saw that there were three men standing inside the residence. He told deputies that one muttered an oath and the men then grabbed him and threw him to the ground.
He said the men beat him while he was on the ground, hitting him repeatedly in the ribs. He said that he eventually took a blow to the head which rendered him unconsciousness.
A relative picked up the injured man and transported him to the emergency room for medical care.
Detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division have been tasked with further investigating the matter.
